I had originally meant to get this posted before Christmas, but as you all know, that magical time can either be super busy or super relaxed. Either you’re running around trying to get everything done on time, or if you’re like me, you’re a bit too relaxed with a cup of coffee by your side and an Xbox controller in your hand, knowing that everything is done and the festivities can commence without a hitch.
I wanted to take a few moments and reflect on this year in terms of blogging and look forward to a new year and what blogging adventures may await! I started this blog back in March, so I’m a bit shy of having a full year to reflect back on, but I feel like the months since I started this blog are a great place to begin.
I found some general end of the year review questions for bloggers and I’ve decided that I will answer them in this post as it may give readers some insight, as well as myself.
Let’s get on with the questions!
What was your favorite blog post this year and why do you feel that way?
I’ve been pretty proud of mostly all of my blog postings this year but there are a few that stand out to me a bit more than the others. I really started this blog with my posting about the SmallWorlds game closure and discussed just what the game meant to me and my friends. It was an event that really made me want to write about things that I was passionate about and express how those moments may have impacted my life in whatever way. It certainly compelled me to be expressive in how I see the world around me and motivated me enough to start this blog as a way to share my interests, hobbies, gaming adventures, my love of collecting, and more!
The second blog post that I really enjoyed this year was my posting about Harvest Moon: Light of Hope. As stated in the post, Harvest Moon has been a game series that has literally been a part of my entire gaming life so I thought it was fun to get to share my gaming adventures from that. It was a post that I felt was written on a more personal level and was a topic that I was very passionate about and I had many people that read it mention that the passion and love for the game series certainly came through within the writing.
What are your blogging goals for the upcoming year?
Now that I read this question again, I realize just how many goals I have and would like to achieve during the new year! Ultimately, I’d like to build some brand relationships and friendships with some of my favorite brands and companies. I’d also like to be able to do more collection photography. I love giveaways, so being able to share that with readers would be awesome! I’d also love to meet more friends in the blogging world and team up for some collaboration posts!
Are there any areas that you feel that you can improve in as a blogger?
In terms of blogging improvements, I’d like to be more diligent and dedicated to posting more often and even develop a posting schedule. I’d also like to look into more types of content!
What can readers hope to expect from you and your blog in the coming year?
I’d certainly like to be able to write more often about my gaming adventures. I’m also looking forward to doing some more reviews on products that I enjoy and would like to share with others. Improving my photography skills and branching out in that aspect would be awesome too and is certainly something that I will be working towards in the new year!
Looking back over the entire year, what blogging accomplishments are you most proud of?
The accomplishment that I’m most proud of this year is my nomination from Fitzy for the Real Neat Blog Award! I had so much fun answering the scenario questions and as a relatively new blogger, getting recognition that awesome is truly heartwarming and fun!
In closing, what advice would you give to other bloggers and people who may want to start a blog as we head into the new year?
As a relatively new blogger myself, I’ve already learned quite a bit since March and I still learn something new about blogging almost every single day. My advice would be to always write about things that you are passionate about, as that seems to convey the most emotion and passion to people that are reading your content. Product reviews are great, but I find that they are more fun if it’s a product that you really truly enjoy and have a passion for! Don’t be afraid to express your personality through your writing. Stay true to who YOU are and what makes you UNIQUE!
Always “Follow Your Bliss” when it comes to subject matter!
In closing, I would like to extend a massive THANK YOU! to everyone that has read my blog this year! Thank you for the shares on social media, the comments, advice, and support! I never imagined that the ramblings of a geeky girl who enjoys gaming and collecting could influence people to stop and read whatever I decided to ramble on about, so thank you again!!
I look forward to what the new year has in store, no only for blogging, but also for life in general! I appreciate you all sticking with me through this first year blogging journey! Cheers to many more adventures!
